Respectful Communication Policy
Communication and Privacy for Patients Aged 18 and Over
We are committed to respecting patient confidentiality and supporting young people as they transition into adulthood. Once a patient turns 18, they are legally considered an adult and we communicate directly with them regarding all aspects of their care, including appointments, clinical information, and administrative matters.
We recognise that parents and family members often play an important supportive role. While patients may choose to share information with family members or involve them in their care, communication from the Clinic remains with the patient. This approach supports patient autonomy, confidentiality, and clear communication, and is consistent with Australian privacy and healthcare standards.
